OUR HISTORY
As the third generation of Land Rover Specialist in my family, I moved to Kenya to set up the East Africa branch to our UK family business, Foley’s East Africa Ltd in 2015.
Peter Foley started the business back in 1966, buying and selling Land Rover parts and vehicles, he also had an interest in Military Vehicles. Over the years the business has developed in numerous ways, carrying out bespoke conversions and rebuilds and of course delving into the ‘Overland Travel’ scene that has become a very important factor in the Land Rover market. The UK business, Foley Specialist Vehicles is still family-owned by Paul and Stuart Foley and continues to provide high-quality vehicles, servicing, and free advice for overland customers and/or Land Rover enthusiasts.
This is not the first time there has been an Africa branch of Foleys. Paul lived in Zambia and owned Foley’s Africa Ltd. for 9 years and started Livingstone 4×4 Hire (Zambia). This is where I, Nicholas Foley, grew up. I was educated in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and spent my spare time in my dad’s workshop. I have extensive experience of working with Land Rovers, having now worked professionally on them for 20 years, as well as having personally taken part in several overland trips, including driving London to Timbuktu and London to Cape Town.
I’ve now been based in Kenya for 10 years and have developed an understanding of the specific requirements for vehicles in this context, working not only in Kenya but across the East Africa region.
